Pak Mission Society

Pak Mission Society (PMS) is a national humanitarian and development organization established in 2004. It is dedicated to fostering interfaith harmony and social cohesion in Pakistan by adopting a Triple Nexus Approach (Humanitarian-Development-Peace). It was founded by Christian professionals and got registered in 2008 under Pakistan’s Societies Registration Act, and recently the registration shifted to Section 42 of Companies Act (2017). It operates across four provinces with operational offices in 11 districts, serving over 6.5 million individuals through integrated programs.

Vision: PMS envisions empowering vulnerable communities to live with dignity and respect, focusing on holistic transformation.

Mission: Its mission emphasizes strengthening capacities, resilience, and self-reliance. Core values include excellence, accountability, teamwork, patience, and passion. PMS empowers marginalized communities while promoting mutual respect and understanding between religious groups.

Interfaith and Community Engagement: Through its programs, PMS actively bridges gaps between minority and majority populations, creating spaces for collaboration and peace building. The organization integrates interfaith relations into its initiatives, addressing shared challenges such as disaster response, climate action, economic empowerment, urban slums development, church and community development, and leadership development. PMS has cultivated partnerships with local churches and communities to promote dialogue and cooperation, enabling Christian and Muslim leaders to work together to address societal needs. Notable efforts include leadership training through the Arete Institute and community projects that unite diverse groups in pursuit of holistic development. PMS exemplifies a faith-based approach to humanitarian aid, leveraging its commitment to social cohesion to build trust across religious divides. By empowering youth and fostering collaboration among faith communities, PMS contributes to creating a more inclusive and harmonious society in Pakistan.

Shared Future Program: Pak Mission Society has a well-structured program called Shared Future to increase the resilience of local communities to religious extremism and interreligious tensions through a combined approach of interfaith dialogue and social-economic cooperation. The approach used in “Shared Future” demonstrates multi-layered interventions by integrating interreligious socioeconomic cooperation at the community level to public policy level and knowledge creation. The pilot initiatives successfully contributed to ensure communities and societies remain peaceful both at local and national levels by engaging religious, social, and political leaders. The project channeled the essential youth energy in a positive direction by engaging 125 youth in local community actions. The project has been able to mitigate youth’s sense of alienation and despair by sponsoring events and celebrating milestones. It has instigated the process of self-reflection which has encouraged youth to make a positive difference not only to their own lives but also to contribute to peacebuilding in communities.

Key Partnerships and Recognition: PMS collaborates with global entities like UNHCR, BMZ-Germany, Tearfund, KNH-Germany, Norwegian Church Aid (NCA), ERDO-Canada, SRG, USAID, and with corporate partners like Mitsubishi. PMS holds an MoU with Pakistan’s Economic Affairs Division (valid until May 2026). It is certified by the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP) and ISO-certified for operational excellence.

Geographic Reach: PMS operates in remote, underserved regions, prioritizing marginalized communities regardless of religion, gender, or ethnicity.
