Pathways to Peace Interfaith Conferences 2025 – ICMR

Overview

The Pathways to Peace Conferences 2025 were a series of interfaith dialogue sessions organized by St. Paul’s University to strengthen relationships between Christian and Muslim communities in Kenya.

The initiative included three one-day meetings covering four key themes: trust-building, unity in diversity, religion as a force for peace, and faith-based reconciliation.

Through keynote presentations, group discussions, and interactive sessions, the conferences created an inclusive platform for participants to explore shared values, challenge stereotypes, and foster mutual understanding across faith lines.

 

Objectives

  • Foster mutual understanding and respect between Christians and Muslims.
  • Provide a safe and inclusive platform for interfaith dialogue.
  • Promote peacebuilding through shared values and joint engagement.
  • Encourage collaboration among diverse participants from different backgrounds.
  • Challenge stereotypes and misconceptions about different faith traditions.

Project Activities

  • Thematic Conferences:
    • Meeting 1: Breaking Barriers – Building Trust Across Faith Lines
    • Meeting 2: Unity in Diversity – Celebrating Faith and Culture Together
    • Meeting 3: Religion as a Force for Peace 
    • Meeting 4: Faith & Peacebuilding: Tools for Reconciliation
  • Keynote Presentations:
    Delivered by Christian and Muslim representatives, highlighting similarities and differences between the two faiths.
  • Group Discussions & Poster Sessions:
    Participants worked in groups to reflect on lessons learned, shared values, and strategies for fostering interfaith unity.
  • Panel & Q&A Sessions:
    Open discussions addressing real societal challenges such as religious stereotypes, education gaps, and the role of leadership.
  • Interfaith Prayers:
    Each session opened and closed with prayers from both faith traditions, reinforcing unity and shared spiritual values.

Outcomes

  • Increased understanding of shared values such as mercy, justice, unity, and charity across both religions.
  • Reduction of stereotypes and misconceptions through direct interaction and dialogue.
  • Strengthened trust and relationships between Christian and Muslim participants.
  • Identification of practical strategies for interfaith unity, including education, dialogue, and community engagement.
