This project provided intensive training in Arabic and Islamic studies for five Dominican brothers in formation (one Indonesian, two Cameroonian, and two Congolese). The goal was to prepare future leaders of interreligious dialogue in their home countries by enabling them to immerse themselves in a Muslim-majority context, meet young Muslims and Christians from the Abu Dhabi fraternity circle, and strengthen IDEO’s networks with communities in Africa and Asia.
This project responds to the pressing need for interreligious training in regions facing increasing Christian-Muslim sensitivities. By equipping young Dominican brothers with Arabic and Islamic studies expertise, it builds long-term capacity for teaching, dialogue, and collaboration with Muslim leaders in their home countries.
